About this site

Board games are a great hobby and I write and share about them occasionally.  This is a place to share my comments, reviews, activities and generally evangelize about board games.

This is a personal Blog where I express my opinions about board games, most often about “Euro Games”.  My reviews will often contain graphics and photographs.  Many of these visuals are my own original work, some photographs and graphics may be extracted or cropped from visuals available at Board Game Geek or specific board game company web sites.  If you would like me to not use a visual presented here contact me and I’ll swap it out with another of my own.

The purpose of this Blog is to evangelize and inform about board games. It is not a commercial site. That is, I consider this a place for my opinions and I do not include advertisements from other web sites. I’ve been approached a number of times by other web site owners asking if they could pay me to include links, or web ads, to their site, and I really feel that does not belong on this site. I am quite comfortable including links to other board game sites but, again, they should be related to the same target audience. For example, a web site about the board game Monopoly and it’s many variants, is generally not interesting to what I believe is the target audience.

  1. Dear Steve,

I am the Managing Director of a new board game publishing company, Turnham Games. We recently released our first title, Expedite, which was a successful Kickstarter campaign. It is a fast paced route building game.

I would like to invite you to play our free Java version online at the above website. I would love to play a game with you or you can play “Yoshi” who is a computer. If Yoshi is not in the lobby, then I have not rebooted him. You could check our our Board Game Geek page to see the comments and reviews.

I hope you will take a few minutes to look over Expedite.

    Sincerely,
    Brent Douthit

    • Congrats on a successful KickStater campaign. I’ll go over to BGG and read about the game some time. As far as online games are concerned, if it doesn’t run on an iOS device, I ignore it.

  2. Hey Steve,

A buddy of mine created a board game called Privateer a few years back for fun. After developing it and playing it over the year, I pushed him to do a kickstarter campaign. It took us awhile to do the proper due diligence, but we’re in the midst of the campaign right now. The game is easy to learn but has plenty of variation and strategy built in and we’re already close to meeting our funding goal. The hardest part now is getting the word out to as many people as possible.

If you could give us a shout out on the site we’d be in your debt! Even a mention on facebook or twitter would be great if you have them.

Of course only do this if you like our game!

Thanks for your time and consideration and look forward to speaking with you soon,

  3. Hello Steve,

Medieval Lords has launched its debut game Hitman Holiday on Kickstarter, and is currently funded 30% as of Day 2. We are keen to request your help to share the word as this is a truly refreshing game in the tabletop world that includes deduction, hidden actions & assassins.

The KS page is here: http://www.medievalords.com

    Sincerely,
    Dominic of Medieval Lords
